First i want to thank my good friend, lets call her Liz,( not real name) for allowing me use her picture. I came across it and i was so excited because i knew it would make a good description on this particular write up.
I really struggled with self esteem ever since i was in primary school. I never liked how God created me, never appreciated his handwork on my piece. I kept blaming God for my short height, my skin tone, my family background and everything i would find fault on. The fact that i was even the shortest in our class lowered my esteem the more. I remember days i would dread to go to school because i felt insecure, and the odd one out. Every girl in our class was beautiful, and their bodies had started to react positively towards the adolescence stage while mine was repelling. Its not a laughing matter my friend. I had nothing to prove that i was now maturing into teenagehood. I was very flat, both on the north and south. Boys in our class never wanted to play with me, because i had nothing to offer. Please dont give me that look because i know you know what i mean and what it meant at that time. It was a reciprocal in church, at home and everywhere else i found myself. This went on for a while.
When i was in campus, i was chosen as a prayer cordinator. One morning after our prayers, a lady approached me and mumbled something in my ears which changed my whole life and how i carried myself.
God has priced you so highly that no man can be rich enough to buy you. Do not listen or measure yourself to the standards of this world. The world has measured their own standards of beauty yet it can not create it with its own hands, thus making it null and void. We have manufacturers of products who are legalised as owners of certain patents because they know how to create, maintain and control them. These patent owners usually seek protection of their rights from other creators of patterns because content can be stolen.
We have an indefinable content creator who does not need any rights protection because only Him can create such and give life. Whatever He creates is perfect, He does not make junk. We can see this compliment in Genesis 1. Where He looked at every thing He made and saw that it was perfect. He does not make any mistakes, only Him knows how to define beauty and standard. He put value on us by coming to the world and die just for us so that we can have fullness of life.
God is not pleased with us when we start complaining about the temple which He fashioned for us to live in. Remember we are spirits living in a temple which is the body. There is nowhere in the Bible where the Holyspirit guided the authors to describe how large or small the nose, ears, lips should be for one to be beautiful. I have never come across any specific size description of physical beauty nor height in the Bible.
Everytime the Bible describes a person it does not go into details of how small or big their body parts were. David was ranked one of the handsome men in Israel, the Bible describes how his eyes were beautiful, but it does not go into details of whether they were purple, blue, black or green. It just mentions its beauty and stops there. Esther was beautiful, but we are not told whether or not she had a big bum and neither does it describe her height.
What i am trying to mean is that, there are no measures which God put to control the physical beauty standards, therefore we are all wonderfully made. Whether tall or not, light skin or dark, slim or thin, we are all wonderful. Gods own masterpiece. There is a value that is on you, untouchable and unshakable, no one can bargain you out of it unless you lower your self to the standards of the world.
Success does not chose the physical appearance, neither does education. Boldness is not an effect of the physical appearance but a result of the state of mind. Feed your self with positive things, maintain the value that God has placed on you. Therefore, please look upon God! God alone can give a real image of ourselves. He is the only One, who knows exactly how He built us up and He knows perfectly what is our price!
